About

Hi, I’m Monica!

Yoga has been a part of my workout routine since my early twenties. In those days, fast-paced vinyasa was my go-to, and proper alignment and breathing were not a priority. As a result, I found it challenging to hold Downward Facing Dog for extended periods and struggled to reach my desired depth in forward folds. Even worse, I often felt exhausted after my yoga sessions and once sustained an injury from pushing myself too hard in Pigeon Pose.

Fast forward 25 years, and I have come to realize that yoga is not just a workout, but a ‘work-in’. It is not a competitive sport, but a personal journey that extends beyond the mat. Yoga is a lifelong practice, a lifestyle, and a philosophy that demands patience and self-acceptance.

At Baytown Yoga Journey, my goal is to help people, especially women, who do not have natural flexibility to enjoy yoga without feeling uncomfortable or out of place during practice.
Yoga offers a multitude of physical and mental benefits tailored to the well-being of women. The practice fosters increased flexibility, promoting joint health and reducing the risk of injury. Through a combination of postures and controlled breathing, yoga enhances muscular strength and tone, contributing to overall physical fitness. Women often find solace in yoga’s stress-relieving aspects, as it helps manage daily pressures and promotes mental clarity. Additionally, regular yoga practice can support hormonal balance, alleviating symptoms associated with menstruation and menopause. Embracing yoga can empower women with a sense of self-awareness, resilience, and a holistic approach to health and wellness.
